Hoop Academy

We take a very process driven approach to basketball development. A process that focuses on improvement and maximizing their potential.

We offer development clinics focused on strong fundamentals and a high basketball IQ. We focus on the process rather than the outcome. All academy players are given specific workouts to enhance their player development. Players and coaches track results, & record to live leaderboards creating an atmosphere of accountability and competition.

Skills assessments and multi-level  achievements are used motivate the players to work towards a goal, achieve and repeat. The our four levels of play development within the IBA system. Each level is defined by the players practice short color.

Level 1: Grey

Level 2: Navy

Level 3: Orange

Level 4: Black

They must get 4 patches to advance to next short color. They cannot take assessment test for any bone until they have completed 4 weeks or consistent work. Tracked on Maxone. The four bones they must earn are the following

Ball Handling

Ball handling is the most important part of the game of basketball. Included in this skill is both dribbling and passing.  Because it is one of the most basic, it is often overlooked in importance; however, without ball handling, the ball could not be advanced up the court or offenses could not be run effectively.

To become more valuable to the team, all players, regardless of height or position, should develop good ball handling skills. Often, the difference between good teams and great teams is in the depth of their ability to handle the ball.

Shooting

Shooting is the most important skill in basketball. The fundamental skills of passing, dribbling, defense, and rebounding may enable you to get a high percentage shot, but you must still be able to make the shot. A large part of shooting is mental attitude. In addition to shooting skill, you must have confidence in yourself to shoot well. The integration of the mental and mechanical aspects of shooting fosters shooting success

Development of an accurate shot forces your defender to play you tight and become vulnerable to a fake, allowing you to pass and drive as well as shoot.

Speed and Agility

Even if you’re the quickest guy on the court, if you’re slow to react, it will negate how quick you really are. You want and need to improve both reaction time and quickness.

Our personal philosophy on quickness and agility for basketball players deals with their ability to read and react. The quicker their reaction time, the quicker their movement will seem, regardless of whether it is actually performed quicker.

Basketball IQ

Basketball I.Q. is one of the attributes that does not show up on the stat sheet.

While it may not directly add points to the board, it does affect the game and helps teams win. The best players usually have a high basketball I.Q., and if they don’t, their game eventually falls apart with time.Basketball I.Q. is a combination of instincts and the ability to adapt to any situation.

Once they earn a bone, they can iron on the bone to their practice shorts
